Contributor Instructions

The following instructions are provided to assist users enter and manage events in the UNSW Events Calendar system.

Please select the instructions relevent to you task.

Note: If you have not been registered for the Events Database you are a general user. To request authorised access so you can create and edit events directly in the system call the Currents Events Administration team on x3277

Help is available to assist you:

Use correct dates
Use keywords to assist searching
Enter the correct Department name

Users who are not registered in the UNSW events calendar system can e-mail in requests to add an event using the
New Events - general users form

To submit multiple events complete the Multiple Events Template and return by e-mail to events@unsw.edu.au

Authorised users of the UNSW events calendar should use the
New Events - authroised users form

Note: Passwords will be required to enter events

To edit an event you must be registered and use the
Edit Events - authorised users form

Please note that all transactions in this area are logged for security reasons.

If you tamper with the forms and try to submit them to this area your address will be taken.
Deliberate tampering or attempts to deliberately tamper with computer information is an offence punishable by law.

To administer an event use the
Administer Events - authorised users form

Entering information in the starting date field only will create a single day notice that will only be current for a single day. The date should be formated as DD/MM/YY.

Entering a date in the Starting Dates field and in the Until field will cause a notice with a fixed span of time. This is the most common type of notice that is entered. An example is the exam timetable which should be linked from Date A to Date B.

To enter a periodic regular event select a starting date, a finishing date and a day of the week. This will cause the system to mark the day of the week for each notice. Ie Every Wednesday between Aug 1 to Dec 31.

These are words that will enable a person to locate your event via a keyword search. It is best to use words that describe both the event and the areas of interest it relates to. Each word should be seperated with a comma and a space.

For instance an Art Gallery Opening could have the following keywords;

Art, Gallery, Fine Arts, Sculpture, Exhibition, Artists, Studio

You can select the text with your cursor and copy and paste this into the Department of School field
